Chocolate coloured bridesmaids dresses

I am having a bit of a nightmare looking for bridesmaid dresses that my bridesmaids actually like and don't turn their noses up at!
The colour has to be brown, chocolatey brown (this is what I want!)
knee length or calf length
then we have two requests - a sweetheart neckline and to have the backs covered - I'm at a lost trying to even get these individually let alone on the same dress so I'll take either!
Pref. on the MSE side of the price range too!
Also I'm at a loss at what shoes will go with this colour.

I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!

Dont know if this helps but I just typed in chocoate + dress + sweetheart and found this for starters
http://www.bravissimo.com/products/clothing/dresses-and-skirts/bravissimo/bl44-details.aspx?P36=ETV699Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Talk to local semstresses. Or go to your local college: there might be fashion and design students looking for a project.
These options can give you exactly what you want, and usually suprisingly cheap.
Shoes: what typ of flowers are they having?
Cream/white flowers? You could try cream shoes, easily available in 'bridal' depts.
Toning pewter, or old gold.
Modernist ordramaric arrangements? See what colours match?
Or, your dressmaker could get shoes made in the same fabric as the dresses.
P.S. If you followed Sex and the City, Charlotte's first wedding had the women in the same fabric and length, but different necklines and styles. Very grown up, but only works if you have at least three bridesmaids, otherwise it looks as though you couldn't get matching dresses.0 -
Have you seen the Landy dresses
http://www.landybridal.com/Product/sort3-1.html
You can have the choice of loads of colours and they're made to measure in china and shipped overWhat matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

Thanks that is what I was thinking of doing - same length cos that is agreed. A satin fabric - that is agreed and the necklines all different to suit each one, and luckily I'm having 3!
I'm just scared by going to a seamstress the quality of finish will be bad- I don't know why but that is what I think!- and also that the price may spiral... Guess I should find out!I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!

I am doing this as well. I chose a color and length and the girls can choose any non-strapless dress from https://www.airadress.com They are different shapes and sizes so are happy to choose something that works for them. I have 4 BMs. I have seen it with two BMs and it works well.
I also think a seamstress is a good idea.
Also one of my BM was a BM last September and wore choc brown, they chose their own gold or bronze shoes. It looked really fab.0 -
some great designs and ideas.
My bridesmaid are all big on top so would def need straps! I think a seamstress is needed!I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!

I was a bridesmaid for my sister in December and had a chocolate brown dress. Unfortunately one of my dad's cousins who is an amazing seamstress made them for us, so obviously that's not much help!
The Dessy website has some lovely ideas but their stockists over here are a bit limited in what they have. Good to look at to see what you want though.
My shoes were from Next - they were more of a mink colour rather than a chocolate brown but looked lovely."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I have just got home from a day of wandering around the shops
I too am planning on having brown (although I think I am now going for a lighter brown...more like mocha than chocolate)
We were mainly looking at shoes today and we saw some really really nice ones, I have picked the ones for my bm's in debenhams as they have the perfect colour shoe with an ivory rose on it and it looks amazing.
The also had some really nice choc brown ones
also if you have a wander around a few shops almost everywhere has a range of cream/bronze/gold shoes, all of which would look lovely I thinkMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0
