No, they are native to Africa. I've pondered this also. The only conclusion I came was that perhaps they wanted a dialect in which 'meerkat' and 'market' would sound similar.0 -
I hate the emails and some off the ad's but it clever the whole "merrkat" website. I love the compare feature!0

Compare The Bleedin Market Dot Com.
I know spammers are brain dead but by comparison with Compare The Market's Marketing & PR Department, they're up there with Einstein.
An email received from CTM today invites the recipient to enjoy an exclusive preview of. . .
. . . their new advertisement.
Oh, joy! Gawd would you believe it, an advertisement to look at! Before it's published!!!
In a Dumbed Down Britain, anything's possible but this outfit really is working exceptionally hard to stand head and shoulders below the rest.
ends vent
If its the same email i got from Compare the market, then you sir are an idiot. Did you even look at the email or did you just see the email subject and blow a head gasket
It is an advert, not an invite to preview an advert (yes it is spam though). It is based around Compare the market's joke for compare the meerkat dot com. if you go to www.comparethemeerkat.com you will see that there is an entire website based around the whole meerkat market joke. The email is supposed to be from Alexandre, the meerkat who owns comparethemeerkat.com and it contains an add he made usind puppets which isn't bad actually.
I think the whole compare the meerkat thing is quite funny and the website they created for it is to.0 -
I saw the new advert on TV earlier. It's quite amusing.0

If you don't want to receive the marketing from them, just tick the box/unsubscribe. Simples!0

Lots and lots and LOTS of companies do this. It's all part of promotion, and companies have to push as hard as they can to get their brands noticed among the competition.0 -
I like the ad.
Plus I'm really good at doing an impression of the meerkat and the kids at school are well impressed with it. Instant street cred!
The rabbit has a bit of a history of getting upset about small stuff! Just pity his wife lol.0 -
I received this, and then another email apologising for the first email-really confused me-what's going on!!0
-
I'd say their campaign is workingIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Apart from one of the old Volkswagen campaigns and the equally old Carlsberg campaigns, I can't think of a single ad that's been of any interest whatsoever.
And if compare the meerkats is meant to be some kind of, er, joke, ah well: that kind of subtlety really does have me persuaded that here's an outfit I ought to patronise.
