  • Sorry I am new to this. Can anybody advise if they have sold any scrap gold to Hatton Garden Metals who advertise on the web, as their prices look too good to be true??
and you can't visit their offices only post gold to them. Thanks

Hi Yes I can confirm I used them this week. Went to 2 local jewelers 1st and got offer £4 per gram of gold in both (9ct). Looked at Hattons and they were offering £6.95 on that day. Sent off gold after completing a short form on Hattons web page, used special delivery as you are insured. Next day I got email saying money had been transfered to my bank account and the rate that day was £7.61 which was almost double what I was offered at Jewelers 2 days before. I am really pleased with the service from Hattons. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer:j
Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up & never give up.
  • Thanks cjj, did you actually speak to them?

I have a box full of gold that I am interested in sending to one of these places, trouble is some of it I'm not sure whether or not some items are just 'gold plated' or even ' real gold' at all. Is there anyway I can test this prior to weighing/sending? I don't want to get ripped off but likewise I don't want any company to think I'm trying to rip them off if you know what I mean!

  • Highly recomend Gold Traders, phoned them and they quoted price guaranteed for 3 days,, sent off scrap gold in post office special delivery envelope, Gold Traders emailed me when they received it the following day with price (was more) and confirmation that the money had been transferred into my bank account!!!
    Will use them again.
    Requester.

Any of your local jewellery shops should be able to tell you that if you go on a quiet day. I would advise anyone not to take the first offer on the value of the gold

I cant recommend a postal one but there was a programme on tv saying not all of them were offering the correct rate so check locally if you can :)
  • If you are going to be sending you unwanted gold off to Money 4 Gold be careful when accepting your cheque.

I sent a few bits off which to me were useless and I received a cheque for £52.99. I was tempted to accept this as it is stuff that was just stuck in my drawer but decided to call them (before actually returning the cheque). I said I was not happy and wanted my gold returned. The advisor asked me why and I said the amount was not high enough. She replied

"we are offering a 100% increase at the moment"

I was then offered £105 which I accepted and they are sending the additional amount out to me.

Most people will just accept the first cheque as it is money for nothing if the gold is useless. This is what these companies are banking on.

If you are going to use this service DO NOT accept the first cheque just phone them as they will just increase it. If they dont increase your offer you can decide from there what you want to do but it is definately worth a phone call.

Pass this on so others are aware.
