Question on bank charges

Hi I was just wondering about reclaiming bank charges. I mentioned to my partner about it and he said he regularly got stung for charges by his old bank account. We are thinking about reclaiming but the only problem is, is that it was a joint bank account between him and his ex wife. The account is closed now as far as we know but would it be a problem if it was still open and his ex wife was using it? Also if the account was closed how would we go about any charges that are refunded. Would we have to give his ex wife half or do we need her consent to try and put a claim in because it was joint?

If your partner's ex wife is running the account then he cannot claim back the charges however if it was closed he has the right to claim back the charges/
