Yesterday Barclays Bank took £600 from my new (post bankruptcy) Cash Card account and transferred it to pay into my old loan account - the loan which was included in my bankruptcy 4 months ago
Of course they shouldn't do this, but they did. I called them. It's going to be a battle to get it back...
Warning to others: if you have a Barclays loan when you go bankrupt, do NOT open your post bankruptcy account with Barclays. It's far too much trouble.

ive got a feeling what they have just done is illegal, and the OR WONT be a happy bunny0

As the loan was included in your bankuptcy, you have no debt to Barclay's it's dead and buried. Thing is staff don't always understand bankruptcy and what it entails. Bankruptcy is a protective order for you and the OR should help with this.
I went bankrupt over 5 years ago and the OR told me to get a fresh account as I think this happens if you keep a bank you had previous debts with.
 Good Luck

            yeah what did they say!
I have just got an account with a partner of a past debt, coop and I had a debt with smile which is their partner,on openning they seemed to know I had a past debt with smile,so I didnt think I would get the account but today I got a debit card but now I'm thinking its just so they can grab any money I put in and give it to smile:eek:0

I had an account with Smile that went into my bankruptcy and opened a account with the Co-op. They tried to offset the money but because of the kerfuffle with the OR making us open new accounts, they had to give the money back. Banks seem to either have no clue what they aren't allowed to do, or are taking the chance they can get away with it  Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000 Banks seem to either have no clue what they aren't allowed to do, or are taking the chance they can get away with it  Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000
