Hello everyone i would like to say it's nice in a way to know your not on your own in all this although sometimes it has felt like it!!! I would also like to defend stirling law. If you have read the news papers or listened to the radio about all this unbelievable mess we are all in I am Tracie from East Sussex the lady who had £455,000.00 (not 445 as reported buy some of which £215,000 of that is my own personal money) stuck in wolstenholmes bank account since 21.12.09 although mortgage was drawn down for thd 15.12.09. The boss at Stirling law and his employees are running their ar**s off for me at the moment to get our completion finalised and I speak to him sometimes at least 5 times a day he even recognises my phone number instantly now!!! Even if it is that we've had no news back I am kept informed every inch of the way. Our claim was sent to DWF 3 days ago but only now have they come back with needing MORE information, I am annoyed that these so called URGENT funds arn't being released urgently enough!!!! Stirling law even had proof as to where my funds were in the bank account I mean how much more proof do you need!!!!! Anyway I am very happy with Stirling laws service and hope to be able to give you all some hope on the claiming system very soon (if I don't I think I'll go bl**dy mad!!!!!!) obviously please do think long and hard as to who you now wish to represent you but I just wanted to input that I have had nothing but good things to say about Stirling law. Cheers Tracie
Incidentally how did your file get to Stirling Law? As mine went to them on Tuesday 15 December but they claimed it was returned to Wolstenholmes but DWF cannot locate it.
And coincedentally Abbey who were providing my mortgage and who sent their money to Wolstenholmes on Thursday 16 December and whose money bounced back to them have now withdrawn their mortgage offer because of wolstenholmes.0 -

The boss of Stirling Law? who is that - if he is helpful to you he maybe helpful to others so his name would be useful - wishing you the best of luck in sorting your issues out.0 -
hi sorry im having major probs loggin onto site ive had to register again with my user name now in capitals!!!!
Yes I too was hoping that this would have been sorted out by now but I have realised that their URGENT! obviously is as URGENT as MY URGENT. My little girl is disabled and doesn't cope with change very well at all and now she is being shoved from pillar to post for somewhere to stay its very distressing for her as is for me and my other children.
Its true they will give you no idea of timesscales all they will say is they cannot even start to process the claim until they are sure they have EVERYTHING in order with supporting evidence.
my file was sent to stirling law sort of via heald green from the birmingham office. obviously I had no ideas of this until after our purchasers had sent their money to wolstenholmes on the morning of 21st!!!! which obviously then was too late. I agreed to keep my file there because they were trying desperatly to get our monies sent over from wolstenholmes until the account was frozen and then it was a case of they already new what the situation was so I agreed to stay as they had tried so hard before and I didnt want to have to start all over again as our chain would have most definatly fallen apart as it is its on a very very thin thread at the moment and dont believe it will stay together if this goes on much longer.
We had origionally hoped for a moving date of the 15th so our mortgage was applied for early from the Abbey we were lucky they it wasnt bounced and withdrawn must have hit the account just at the right time. Although DWF now require authorisation from the Abbey for funds to go to Stirling Law!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I will endevour to keep you all up to date when claim gets settled. hopefully on the same user name!!! if i can log in more than once that is!!0 -

The boss is Glyn Wilmott and he is very very helpful as are all of the staff that I have spoken to they have all had to deal with my tears and screams!!!! Bless!!!!0 -
Tracie I wish you all the best I had hoped by now with your case being more urgent than mine that you would of been dealt with by now. I submitted my claim yesterday to the SRA and will await your update anxiously as no one was able to tell me the time frame involved for getting my money back.

Thanks Tracie. I now understand Abbey's angst as it appears quite a few of us were with or applied for mortgages with Abbey. Abbey's bank manager is suppose to call me next week to restart my application. I hope I do not have to pay another fee and I note their rates are not as good now as what I was offered before it was withdrawn.
I wish you and your family all the best. I am learning to take things one day at a time although some days are harder than others and at times appears as if I am fighting a lossing battle.
Thanks to Mark Hunter, MP for Cheadle who unlike my MP has taken the time to reply to my email detailing his efforts thus far.
I am grateful to each and everyone of you who have been my lifeline and kept me informed with your postings throughout all of this. Thank you.0 -

Hi Tracie,
I've not been on this site for a week or so as I have had no internet access. I am in a very similar position to yourself, but consider myself fortunate in this instance in that my daughter only lives with me a couple of nights a week. I was due to complete on 22nd December and although they have only about half the amounts that you are talking about, they are still very significant figures to me. I am currently taking up numerous offers of friends to stay in their spare rooms and currently have everything in storage, with all my life savings tied up in the SRA's bank accounts.
My question is, can you explain to me how you found out that Stirling Law had you file? At the moment BWF are looking for my file before they can pass it on to my new appointed solicitors (who I have already instructed) along with the necessary funds to finish my completion. I've had no communication from anyone saying that my file was transferred to Stirling Law and as each day passes with DWF not having found my file I'm starting to wonder whether it has been sent there.
Much love and best wishes to you and your family.0 -
For what it's worth, I've had recent dealings with DWF on an unrelated matter, and I won't be going back to them again. They may be a large firm (perhaps that's the problem) but I've been distictly underwhelmed by the way they've handled the case so far.0

I am begining to suspect the same myself. So far I have spoken to 3 different people, repeating the same story each time who knows as much as the next person which is causing me even greater stress.
Now I know they have alot to contend with at the moment.0 -

Yes although my mortage is already in the account I just hope that they dont decide to pull it back and make me re-apply other wise my chain will definatly fall apart without a doubt. i suppose i'll just have to see what Monday brings when Glyn speaks to them i'll let you know. I hope you get your mortage sorted very soon and they shouldnt charge you again it was them that withdrew it not you!!! stand your ground on that matter im sure they can waiver it.
I think you have the right attitude to take it one day at a time because no matter how hard you push NO ONE is going to work as fast as you'd like and it seems DWF have been told to cross the t's and dot the i's before they are prepared to do ANYTHING.
Good luck to you x and to everyone0
