come come anotherproblem
I myself have a general aversion to lawyers (see my previous posts) and have no faith in the SRA.
But solicitors like Horrified Solicitor and LadyLawyer who have taken the time and trouble to post on this forum and answer questions (without charging the usual lawyer fees!) do not deserve these attacks.0 -

Thank You Kerian...I originally posted similar however by support anotherproblem seemed to think I was referring to money!...Plenty pro's give their time free out of hours, but I have to say it also depends a lot on the attitude of clients...
It is non sensical to despise an occupation...good and bad in every walk of life, whether tinker, tailor, soldier or sailor....

And thats the truth - and you dont get the smirky remarks about paying £99.00 for conveyancing or the comments like cheap as chips
So what is the problem of having the media involved in this saga. I live in SOMERSET not in MANCHESTER or CHEADLE or BIRMINGHAM or LONDON not everyone affected by this is local to the so called offices of WH - God help the Buyers and Sellers who have no idea of the pending letters from DWF that will drop on their doorsteps. Or of the stress they are about to face.
This is only the start of it all.
I gather there are at least 5000 plus letters either posted or about to be posted.0 -
Hello i wonder if you could help me.
I recieved a letter from the mortgage lender this morning stating that, to date, my name hasnt been registered as the legal owner of the property. That WH hve been intervened and are no longer practising. I completed on a property in Oct 09 and i had a number of problems with WH.
Iam a FTB and thought i researched quite well but obviously not in the case of solicitor choice! It was all extremely stressful dealing with WH from beginning to end and i thought all that was behind me, it now looks as though its going to be worse than ever, i cant believe it.
The letter states relevant legal correspondance relating to the purchase of the property may not have been finalised by my solicitor (WH). Mortgage lender has instructed their solicitor to finalise any outstanding property registration and advised me that legal costs would be involved, although it gives me no indication of how much??
Iam so worried about all of this again and some posting on here suggest that my property could have a second charge on it and be under someone elses name???
i dont understand all of this???? Can somebody pls advise me what to do?
Thank you. :eek:0 -

Hi There the first thing to remember is you are not on your own. - Dont pay too much head to the post about having a second charge on the property. I am not aware of anyone who as actually suffered this.
You should really try and read some of the posts as there is a lot of information there.
Then the most important thing is to ring the land registry and see if a search has been placed against your property in your name. If it has been you will be protected.
Talk to your mortgage lender and ask for a full explanation.
Talk to DWF about this as well they have been dealing with all the files and I have found most helpful
Go to the SRA Website as there is some info there.
You can put a claim in for compensation.
Keep copies of everything. The first thing I did was sorted out my house file. Any e mails from WH I printed off, and any paperwork I made sure was filed. It helps in the long run
It's one step at a time and try not to get too stressed.

You will need to instruct a solicitor to complete your registration talk to them.

Pauline.
This is sensible advice. Please also remember that if there has been any dodgy dealing with your property, it will have been done fraudulently and will be cancelled by the Land Registry. It may take time, but it will be done. Please bear in mind that the Land Registry has a vested interest in making the system work and making sure that fraudsters don't get away with it.0 -
Let's face it. There would probably be a lot more in the media about Wolstenholmes if the guy running it hadn't been a prospective Labour MP and if there wasn't an election coming up.0

I'm not sure that this is true. After the scandals over MP's expenses, I think the media would find it more interesting that a prospective MP was involved.0 -

Well, I think my next mission once I have rung a few places in the morning is to start pushing the press. Now that will make for an interesting day - but before I do is it correct that a prospective MP is indeed involved in this?0 -
You need to read page 25 of this thread. Nasser Ilyas of Wolstenholmes appears to be Nasir Ilyas, who was put forward as a prospective Labour MP for Burnley (he wasn't actually selected though).0
