Sorry to hear that. It is such a worrying time.
My cousin went through the same and they were renting privately. I don't know details but she contacted the benefits agency and they are paying her rent until her hubby can get back to work.
You will get help they will not want to see you on the streets.
Good luck and I'm sure somebody will post on here a list of links to various sites.0 -
Hia,
I am sorry to hear that you OH has lost his job, Probably the best thing to do would be contact your Council & ask them for an application form for Local Housing Allowance, Depending on your circumstances (e.g age of children) they should be able to advise you how much they will pay you for LHA (sometimes unfortunatly you have to make the difference with benefits) If they do not award you the full ammount of LHA ask them for Descresionary payments. You maybe lucky enough to get housing benefit the full ammount. If you can, Contact your landlord and advise him/her what has happend. Tell them that the council is dealing with the housing benefit.
Also dont forget to contact the council regarding council tax benefit, fill them in ASAP.
Regards to Benefits Click here and put your post code in, the number you will need to ring will apear.
Also one last thing, Don't forget to tell tax credits about the change.
Good Luck
