Hi, i have just been to M&S for a bra fitting i waited for about 10 minutes in a cubicle when the salesperson arrived she was rather grumpy and went back into the store to get me a selection to try on but her attitude was really not very kind so i left vowing to buy one elsewhere.Js_Other_Half wrote: »I agree that M&S aren't great at bra fittings, but admittedly it has been years since I bothered with them.
Beatties dept store certainly do them, and the local one definitely gets the sizing right for me.
Good luck.0 -
Welcome to the boards Philgor - do try a department store, or a specialist shop - you're much more likely to get something that fits and suits you.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0

You cannot fit yourself properly by measuring with a tape measure and neither can anybody else. This is for two reasons; 1)Different women have different shaped breasts 2)The tape measure technique suggests cup sizes are based on a linearly increasing circumfrential measurement but they are really a volumetric measurement. For the smaller cup sizes it seems to be a good enough approximation but for larger cup sizes it just doesn't work. Bravissimo have some advice on how to find a well fitting bra: This is our 3 step check for the perfect fitting bra
Why isn't my bra fitting me properly?
I have to agree with this. Im not entirely sure how I found it, but I did one day and it was great! Ive "gone up a cup size" based on my own "fitting", but Im thinking it still isnt right. I just havent had the time to go and get a "proper fitting" done yet.
Anyway, the point. If I measure myself with a tape measure, I come out as a 34A! That has ALWAYS astounded me. I have NEVER fitted into an A cup in my life. Not even when I was younger (well, Im only 22, but Im talking around 12 ish). If I even tried to squeeze into an A Cup, I think my poor breasts would falling out every which way possible!!
Id always worn a 34C, as that is what Mum and I came up with when I was younger. I really would like to try these new "half cup size" bras though, as one of mine is quite a lot smaller than the other and I dont need/want a hugely padded bra, as it makes the other breast not fit properly.
It does also depend on where you go. In New Look, for instance, they're fairly terrible. Their sizes are hardly ever in realistic sizes (The Kelly Brooke ones are quite good to be honest, but then she is very large out the front
) and the sizes are way off. A 34D in most of theirs seems to be large on me, yet a 34C is far too small. I have tried other variations, when I can get them (32D, 36C etc) but I really do need a 34. Their Cup sizes are just awful.
M&S were good for a bit, the bras I managed to get were nice, but after a while they do seem to get uncomfortable. Again though, varying the sizes seems off. Im glad for my cheap bras from them, but wouldnt spend their ridiculous prices on the "pretty" ones.
Matalan are quite good. They have a good range of bras in all sorts of sizes, for a nice price. Ive found they do fit nicely too and I can usually find something that suits me
I may have to take a trip to Cambridge though and wander into Bravissimo. I'll just have to save some money first!! Haha!0 -
im 15 and i really want to get a bra fitting as ive not had one and ive been wearing a bra for around 4years....but theres 1 thing putting me off my left breast is soo much more smaller than my right and i dont want the shop assistant to, not make fun of me but u know what i mean. And i dont know what to cause my right breast is going to be a different cup size from my left so what do i do then??? also i dont want to spend £15 on a bra so how do u tell them nicely im gonna buy one elsewhere without them thinking ur a cheap skate...where do u think is the best place for a teenager to get fitted?

CaptainT - no professional will make fun of you - honestly. Choose a proper lingerie shop initially, and they will try their best to be considerate. You might need to up your budget for the first time though. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0
