Account closures

I've probably asked this before but I can't remember what the answer was - has anyone had their accounts closed with their banks after they sent off a reclaim application?

Cheers

Lots have (citing relationship breakdown) but they shouldn't really do it. hardship claimants often, understandably, get downgraded to a basic account.

Is it not wise to begin proceedings without a backup account then?

That bit is a matter of choice, I think you can argue the case of retaliatory approach but the bank shouldn't shut the account just because you are reclaiming charges back.
