Does anyone know of a programme, preferbly free, that records facebook chat.

No, seriously don't think ive ever come across anything that does that. If there were then Facebook themselves would have to implement it.

If you google it, there seems to be plenty of apps to do this, not sure how safe they are, such as: "Messenger Detect"

While I've not tried it, there are messenger apps that can log into facebook chat without needing to visit the site itself. I think from here, conversations can therefore be saved like normal.

If you download Pidgin and add the Facebook plugin, you'll be able to use it to talk on Facebook and keep a record of it.

Seriously Right yesterday i was talking to someone on fb and forgot some things that they had said, and woundered "Wouldn't it be good if facebook saved all your chats and that you could easily download them as files"
