help with homebase please re leather suite

Options
i will try to keep it short as this has been going on for three years and am now in need of some more advice from all you savy mse s please

purchased a leather suite on 05/02/06 at a sale price of £455.97 after promotions and discount

new yourk recliner suite consisted of a 2 seater recliner and two single recliners

10 months later the leather on the double recliner started to wear and a hole had appeared so contacted homebase who said i needed to get an independant report to prove it was a manufactures fault so i did and sent it off

been fobbed off ever since the usual have not received this, this person dose not exist, we never rang you so i threatedned legal action and today i received a phone call from gentelman i have been dealing with this week and to be honest i can not fault him he has phoned me nearly every day updating me saying

as my issue has been going on for this lenght of time he has arranged for me to go instore and choose a replacement, but............

they no longer stock the newyork recliner

i have been on the website and can not find a suite that matches what i have now for the price

i could only get another 2 seater leather sofa that will not match my other two single recliners

what i suppose i am getting at is
is there any chance i can ask for like for like or am i going to be stuck with non matching suite??

thanks in advance

Can you see one that matches for a higher price?

was there no mention of a refund? I would be pushing for a refund... we had a similar problem with DFS and eventually got a refund (although this was a few years ago and things may have changed).

he did say offer me a refund or replacement but to be honest i would like a replacement as since it has happened all i wanted was a sofa that i can use not be worried about it getting worse

    thanks for your advice

I would opt for the refund and spend the money elsewhere- that would completely eliminate any more problems with Homebase.

Although I do understand the need for a good sofa which is comfy for slobbing out!

it was a sale bargin i managed to find an old add

you can barely see on the bottom of the pic it was supposed to be either £699 or £599 then went to £349 then to £299

being my first home it was a complete bargin for me and purchased the double and two singles then got an extra % off i actualy had to get my mum to put it on her credit card then pay her off :o

I would be heading down the route of getting the higher but matching equivalent then, and if they need to replace the whole suite then so be it...also, ringing the same person every day gets really annoying- so I recommend doing so!

Thats would be my advice,I know the furniture range you have and some of the leather used is waffer thin, its not fit for purpose IMHO,I am a master upholsterer and inspected a few of them

well thought i would give a quick update
went down to the same homebase yesterday and they looked as if they knew nothing about it when i explained it all but then he called someone and came back saying they will refund the origional ammount towards the cost of a new sofa but any extra would come out of my pocket

i politely but firmly stated that after near on 3 yrs of hassle i expect like for like ie i want a 2 seater and two single leather recliners

then the lady said she would refund the ammount before the extra discount i received £566 odd but i would have to go back in monday when the manager was there

i thought this would be ok as the same set up would cost an extra £20 but could only be ordered via there internet site not instore fair enough

    BUT....

then returning home and finding on there site the 2 seater reciner is instock when i put it into my basket and put in my postcode for delivery it then shows as out of stock:eek:

i am assuming this is because they have none in my local delivery depo so i am going to go back in homebase on monday when i see the manager and ask if one can be sent from another delivery depo as i am not too fussed on waiting a few weeks after all i have been waiting 3 yrs whats another few weeks lol

but what should i do if this can not be done as the next same set up thats not even that nice is near on £700

    any advice would be welcomed

    many thanks
