Hi,

For some reason facebook won't open, or won't open fully on my computer today and last night. I tried on Firefox and IE and now have switched on my laptop but having the same problem. Any ideas why this might be happening? It's obviously not just limited to the one computer and it's not my username because i haven't even logged on...

Also I have been using Ebay but when i try to sign into My Ebay, that won't open either. TMZ.com won't open, Asda electricals page won't open, I can't watch clips on BBC News website either.

Could it be my ISP? (sky broadband!)

My connection seems fine as other sites (like MSE) are working perfectly.

So strange...and very annoying!

Thanks for your thoughts :o

Can't think were it is on Vista, but if your on XP:

    Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc\

Double click the "HOSTS" file and select Notepad

Now check that file and delete any entries below "127.0.0.1 localhost"
While your there you can add "127.0.0.1 rad.msn.com" to get rid of the adverts in msn messenger :p

It's common for malware to use this file to block sites like ebay, so it's worth a go.

Should be the same on Vista apparently, just never had to do that on Vista yet.

It seems strange though that this would happen on both computers at the same time, which makes me think it may be to do with Sky. Don't want to ring their customer service lines though!

Ask your neighbours if they're on Sky and if they have the same trouble?

Sounds like a Sky problem, see this messageboard on Sky User (unofficial Sky site):

    http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-broadband-help/31250-sky-broadband-issues-certain-websites.html

I'm having the same problem (facebook and hotmail) and my daughter has been having problems with Ancestory.com (although she says she can get it on IE so that could be a coincidence).

It's a DNS thing by the sound of it.

EDIT: I've just changed my DNS to Open DNS and everything is hunky dory. Ideally I should have changed my router's settings but I think the Sky router is locked down so I followed the instructions for the Computer's settings instead. (About to have a look at my router but if it's locked down I'm not going to hack it - I know it's possible but life's too short!)
