Balances

Hi There,

I need some help.
I had a Barclay’s credit card with a £250 credit limit on it. I had a car accident and I was fully comprehensively insured which meant that I could receive a courtesy car.
I went to collect the card and for ID and security purposes I had to use my credit card. I used it and they took a copy of it and when it came down to the Insurance Company to pay they decided that they weren’t going to pay the full amount and therefore the car rental company took it off my car. The payment that they took was £1190 off a credit card that only had a £250 credit limit. Barclays are saying that this is completely legal. What can I do and how can I get this off my credit rating as they were completely wrong by allowing such a payment that I didn’t authorize to come out the account.

Please help.

You will probably find that you did authorise the payment. What did the rental contract say?

It would have been in the small print somewhere, unfortunately. I don't see there is much you can do :(
