After a rant about Halfords a little while ago, thought I'd say that the guys in Decathlon really helped me pick out a bike, full of advice, helpful, and felt confident taking it home.

Nice one - totally opposite experience to Halfords.

Mrs GP has to keep me on a tight leash when I'm in there because I do get the urge to buy stuff "that I don't need right now but might need and it looks cool"

Everytime DH taks the children, I worry that he's going to come home with a kayak on the roofrack!

Another vote for Decathlon here - I use the Stockport branch too. The range of stuff is impressive, there is good clear information on the racks, and the staff are knowledgable and helpful.

And it's not just bikes and 'normal' sports goods - the camping and hiking gear is excellent and good value. I even bought a fine pair of wellies there! :T
