I want to pay my university fee by a credit card which has 0% purchase deal on it.
I want to ask that is the university fee payment by credit card classed as a purchase for it to qualify for the 0% APR purchase deal.
Any feedback would be apprciated.

I used to pay Southampton University my rent monthly with a credit card. That was always classed as a purchase. But you should phone your card provider to get clarification.Kavanne

It would be more sensible to pay for it with a loan (that every student is entitled to), and keep the same amount in savings as it's 0% for the next year and always lower than savings rates after then. But yes it will count as a purchase.0

Should be a purchase. Bear in mind most merchants have no power to put it through in any other way.
However the university may add a fee for accepting payment this way - and of course they should make this clear to you before processing a payment. Incidentally, as of a couple of years back, City University (in London) didn't add a fee. One of their accounts people remarked to me that with the hassle of getting money off students, being able to take a credit card payment was a boon and well worth the hit they take.0 -

Mate of mine runs a tyre soupply business and tells me that taking payment by card is cheaper for him than paying cheques and cash into his bank!!!!!
I would suggest that anyone who is asked to pay a fee for payment by card, should challenge the supplier of goods/services, using that information and gets a seperate invoice, itemising the fee.0 -

Not sure about the value of demanding a separate invoice.... but some retailers, do process CC payments via their own "internal" credit card payment clearing company to avoid some VAT. (You sometimes see reference to this at checkouts.) Not likely in the case of a university I would have thought.0
