Cheque refund from BT

After being promised a refund to my bank from BT in 3 days which didn't happen I had to arrange another refund in the form of a cheque they said it will take ten days to arrive. The adviser then said 'of course if it doesn't arrive you'll have to call us back'. I may just being paranoid but he sounded as though there was a good chance it wouldn't turn up, it's nearly £80 which i really can't do without. I was on the phone for 30mins explaining the reason for the refund so i really don't want to have to do it for a third time.
So has anyone received a cheque from BT, are they reliable?

I was promised a refund of £99 pounds on the 23rd June, got the email saying it's being processed. Phoned today to see why my the money hasn't hit my bank account and it wasn't even processed nor was the months credit added to my account for the 4 weeks of being unable to dial out.
