How to bypass Verified by Visa/Mastercard Securecode

A lot of my cards are asking me to activate this.
However, it seems that slowly, every bank is asking me to do it - and it's beginning to drive me nuts, as it's yet another password to remember (and forget, when I try and buy something online)!
Is there a way to skip it?

You can skip it for the first couple of times (per card), but after that it will insist on you registering, and won't allow the purchase to go through otherwise.
It's a mechanism for shifting liability from the bank to the cardholder for internet transactions - their argument being that if the password has been entered then it must have been you doing the transaction. But there are already threads on here about people having their passwords changed by fraudsters, so I'l leave you to make your own mind up about how secure it is :rolleyes:0 -
Just "chip and pin" for the internet really, I guess.
I got annoyed by these prompts at first but then I thought about it and really it is a good idea in theory. You can use the same password for each card.
But how safe is it? Who knows reallyYou're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
If you complete the info on the first page then hit the cancel tab on the second page you can defer setting it up indefinitely, I've been using this for months and not had a transaction refused yet. (I assume if you ever do go through all the steps and setup a username and p/w you'll be stuck with it from then on)
Not the least tedious of work arounds I know, but...0 -
