Thanks Squizzer, sorry you are having problems. I'm not sure there are many things more frustrating than a man who refuses to see that there even IS a problem.
I suppose it's partly my fault because in the past when I've said I'm not happy he's always managed to talk me round. Not going to happen this time and maybe he knows that so ignoring it is the easier option

Maz, having had a similar conversation with a child around Erin's age, if she's anything like Ryan was, she will take her lead from you - so keep it fairly low key and non-dramatic (as I'm sure you will - you don't seem the drama queen type at all), and she will hopefully feel reassured that although it's a huge change, it's not the end of the world.
Play up the positives, tell her she can help choose the colours for her new bedroom etc. Keep it fairly brief, but make sure she knows that she can ask questions, either straight away, or at any time, if she has any worries, or there's anything she wants to know.
One thing Ryan is very keen on is the fact we are still a family, even though me and Stu aren't a couple any longer - we occasionally all do stuff together (involves a lot of gritting of teeth and mentally sticking 2 fingers up, but we manage it!), and I think that helps, because that's what he says he misses, all of us going out together.
Thanks hun!
sounds like great advice... Big W had the suggestion that we do stuff as a family even tho we're not a couple too.... cause he says he has realised that it's actually great fun to spend time with her as he realised on his pond dipping trip on wednesday and long walk with the dogs yesterday...
I've been saying she's good company since, well, forever, and she and i were a double act most weekends doing fun (or not so fun sometimes) things... before he always said why was i always looking for things to do with her? Why not stay at home with her...? but i think you owe your child some fun in life when you work fulltime i think....I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
