Please Help

Hello there,

I hope I can get advice here as my local CAB is hardly ever open, I have a few questions regarding Reclaiming Bank Charges, I apologise if these questions have already been answered, but I couldn't find them anywhere.

I was made redundant just last week, (think that is what has made me start reclaiming my money TBH), I have read about Hardship, does this ever get refused?

Do I need bank statements/record of charges for my account? (I have went through my statements online and worked out the charges)

Can I reclaim on more than 1 account? (My wife and I have separate accounts and also our own accounts, both have been hit hard, to the region of almost £8000, between the 2)

Hope you guys and gals can help me, and any advice, help etc is very gratefully recieved

Michael

You can apply for as many accounts as you like and can apply for all charges dating back to 26 July 2001.

Do you have a record of charges? If you do, then look on the MSE site for the guide on how to reclaim. Click here. This includes a little handy calculator for working out how much statutory interest they owe you.

There is an FSA Waiver that says banks must continue to deal with cases of financial hardship. Although you have been made redundant it may be difficult for you to get the banks to do anything unless you are in debt (eg mortage arrears, service charge arrears, council tax, credit cards etc and you cannot make these payments).

You should include evidence of financial hardship. Perhaps a letter of redundancy?

Good luck!! I got nearly £3500 back from the bank after showing them I was in difficulties. it can be done

Thanks for the reply BigN, :T

I have already worked out how much I'm owed, (via internet banking)

I'm struggling to pay our mortgage and various bills atm, partially to do with the charges going out of the accounts, and partially because of my situation, I have read the guide on the MSE website re:Hardship, so fingers crossed.

Once again a big Thank You

Are you currently in arrears on the priority debts(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?

However, you might as well ask the question and get your details as well.

    Hope that makes sense.
