credit card invitation

Hi

Today I received an invitation/application letter for a Halifax Credit Card. I never normally get invited for such things as my credit rating in the past has been poor. However, over the past year I have been monitoring my credit file and improving things (like no missed payments and not applied for anything for 6 months).

Anyway, do credit companies monitor this and then start sending these invitations if you are worthy ? I would like to apply for this card but I am paranoid about getting declined and having a footprint/search on my credit file.

So if you get an invitation, is this a good indication of whether youll get accepted ?

  • haha yeah - having the opportunity of another card could be a bad thing! However, i got a sodding loan with welcome finance (at 34% apr) which im desperate to clear with a better apr cc/loan.

Alot of people get this invitation from Halifax, people apply and then get turned down.

    You may strike lucky though.

    Good luck.

Exactly - however worth looking to see if there is anything along the lines of 'guaranteed' mentioned! However, if you see an astericks (*) try and find out what it means in the small print (i.e. subject to status)....

Good luck whatever you do - as for Welcome, sorry to hear of your woes! They are just, ermmm - terrible!

    Should be renamed 'Goodbye Finance'

You will probably find the card adverts are targetting specific demographics. Like others have said, you may get accepted, you may not.
