Shower for low water pressure area

For the last 4 weeks have been unable to use our shower properly, the lights don't come on, but water coming out, or too hot even on lowest setting.. WE were about to buy a new shower but then a couple of neighbours said they were having problems too, so it might not be the shower but problems with low water pressure. Seven trent have been out and have said that the pipes are all rusted up inside and water flow to houses is poor, but there is very good pressure at the end of our road. Severn trent say they don't own the pipes so will be down to council (haha), so the problem might not be solved. Can we buy a shower that is suitable for low water pressure areas, and if we buy one and have it installed and then someone does decide to sort the pipes out what will happpen to the low water pressure shower. Sorry for length of post.

Assuming this is an electric unit, there's not a great deal you can do other than change the type of shower you have to a traditional hot and cold feed with a pump.
If you decide to install an electric unit, by a decent one that can cope with a reasonably high fluctuation of water pressure (Mira, Aqualisa or similar) the unit itself will sort out the pressure.0 -
Redring work down to 0.7 bar, among the lowest I know of, and also have an electric shower with a pump that connects to the cold water tank only.0

I have a "pumped" electic shower (cold feed only) because of low water pressure.
AFAIK only Mira & Triton sell them.0 -
The redring is about half the price of the mira.0

It is an electric unit, we can only have electric, we have solid fuel heating and water(which is obviously not lit at the moment and have immersion for hot water )so presume there is no other option. The shower is Neptune Exotic but is about 8 years old . I will look into redring and other mentioned, thanks. Need to do something, not much fun with a temperamental shower in this heat.0
