Hi
I have leased a laptop (samsung x360) valued at £1200 on a 3 year lease.
as part of my contract I need to insure it.
best quote I have had is £180 from compucover.
can anybody recommend any cheaper companies ??

Do you have Business insurance? I'd ask your current insurer how much extra cover would be for the laptop, they tend to offer things like this as an add-on. If it's on a business lease it will need business cover.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Good idea, except I don't have full business insurance.
What I do have is public liability & professional indemnity insurance.
Thanks for replying though.

Have you asked your home insurers?0

I need specific laptop insurance, so I dont think home insurance will cover it.
Thanks anyway.0 -
A lot of Home Insurers will cover a business lap top and will "Specify" the lap top on the policy which is normally fine with the lease / finance companies.
Please read all the paperwork you have from the finance / lease company as they have a habit of arranging their own cover (Generally with Allianz) at a really really expensive price unless you take certain actions0 -
Yep. Add a rider on your home insurance. It will probably cost you a tad more than nothing.

I thought home insurance doesn't cover you for a business laptop? As soon as you produce the receipt it will show as being a business contract.
If you ask the company that suppiles you with your PL & PII, they should cover your laptop. Certainly Lloyds TSB business insurance you can have computer equipment as an add on to PL/EL insurance.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Adding it to a PL policy would not offer that good a cover and would have a largish excess eg £100 or £250 and would cost circa £60.
You can often add a lap top that you are either responsible for due to work or is owned by you as a self employed person0
