Read a few posts which mention this player but has anyone got one? What are they like - really want to sideload iplayer? Was toying with this or ipod touch but getting really peeved off by the fact that most retail outlets don't seem to even acknowledge that there are any other decent players - anything not Apple is usually consigned to a box stuck n a corner whereas ipods are on an in-your-face display. No problem if people choose to buy them but not fair to those customers that wish to spend a considerable amount on another make (take note HMV, etc). Sorry, rant over. Any answers to original questions?
Thanks GD

evening
I have had the 32GB version for the last week and I have to say it has really lived up to my initial expectations. The screen is stunning but smaller than the Itouch and scrolling through albums takes some getting used to initially but looks really cool (I would have bought it for that alone:p):p
The sound with supplied noise cancelling headphones is superb with a wide range of settings.
I have loaded iplayer episodes onto it with no problem at all but I did have issues copying and converting movie files which was a bit nuts. I downloaded various apps and non worked so in the end I upgraded to Sonys media app and it resolved it.
The browser isn't as slick as the Itouch at all but the direct wifi link to you tube is really neat and the battery life is excellent.
If you do buy one get a case at the same time, obvious I know but you don't want to mess up the beautiful screen!!

Thanks for that Andrew. I'm a bit of a slowstarter on techy stuff so how difficult is it to set up. My OH has an ipod classic so our entire CD collection is on itunes along with downloads from itunes and amazon. Would this be a problem with the sony x?0

Hi
I found it really easy to use, especially now that Sony has ditched the sonic stage software. Just followed the quick start guide that comes with it.
I don't use Itunes but according to the documentation its compatible with Itunes.
One thing that I find a little annoying is that you have to create playlists on your pc but I guess this will be fixed with later updates.
Cheers
