Replace wooden French doors with UPVC - suspicious

Just had Crystal round to quote on replacing our tatty wooden French doors with UPVC ones. Their doors sound good quality, very secure locks etc etc.

His initial quote was £2500 but when I said I was hoping for no more than £1200 he said "if I could ring you tomorrow with a date in the next couple of weeks would you go ahead at £1200?" I'm rather suspicious that he was willing to more than halve the quote without any negotiation whatsoever, do you think even £1200 is too high? I live in SE London.

Anyone else have experience of Crystal or know roughly what I should expect to pay? My doors are a little shorter than standard size so I can't buy ready made ones.

A couple of weeks ago, i did a job replacing some tatty wooden french doors for good quality woodgrain effect upvc and i charged £840.

Any company playing those sort of games with you don't deserve your business.
They have tried to charge you 2 or 3 times what it should cost - do you still want to deal with them?

I just had mine replaced + plus 2 side windows for just over £1000. I wouldn't deal with a Company who plays thoses sorts of games.

We had our whole house UPVC done for £3500 - double french doors, front door and 6 windows I would get more than one quote.

    Hi,

I used them 6 years ago. I must say that they played that game then whic irratated me and they wanted to get papers signed there and then. I must say that their work was good and the two guys that fitted were professional. I don't like pressure tactics but at that time they could fit me in within two weeks which was great for me as I just bought the house and wanted the work done before I decorated, otherwise I may have shopped around.
