I lost my husband, but to me this is a good thing :D

I've also lost some freedom when it comes to holidays, or when I see a new handbag that I want but the satisfaction I'll get at the end of it with all the money being mine and being able to save up for a home of my own will far outweigh that.

Another point worth considering is that when we are all out of debt we will be able to live so much better lives. We'll have all that money we used to pay the debts off to enjoy life with - but we won't waste it this time.

    Hiya,
I actually gained from when I was first in bad debt, to the point of not being able to afford minimum payments and getting loads of charges, I was at a friends house and her mum suggested we sit down and take stock, we were looking through papers and magazines at jobs and I plucked up the courage to go for a live-in job and move away from my home town. It worked out really well. I was earning a few hundred pounds extra per month, and I didn't have rent to pay and plus I got to travel abroad for free! The trouble is the more you earn the more you spend. I still have things to pay off, and I have lost stuff having to move away and leaving behind furniture and stuff, but it was worth it for the experience, I don't know where I would be now if I hadn't been round at my friends that day....
