    33 stamps?

Does this mean you had 33 Creditors?!

    Wow! :D

some were the DCAs who had bought the debts

probably about 20 original lenders tops

(and some unlucky DCAs, and some DCAs had sold em on too!)

Plus some were in-house with the same institution, i.e. HSBC - overdraft, loan, CC, etc.

    (HSBC were unlucky.....)

Hi Porcupine :) I take it your haven't declared BR yet. If this is the case, then I found the easiest way to deal with them is to actually answer the calls. In most cases, once they have had a "discussion" with you they will mark the file forward for seven days or so, sometimes longer. When asked if I could make a payment, I simply laughed and said I would love to, but none of my cards would be accepted. On a couple of occasions I actually let them try a card I knew would be declined. I explained that I had sent a text to a family member, and they have replied stating they may have some spare funds they might be able to help me out with, but they were on holiday in St Lucia for three weeks, so nothing would happen until they returned. After three weeks it transpired that they didn't have anywhere near enough spare, and so I had booked an appointment with CCCS (I actually did) which was another three weeks delay (give them the CCCS reference). After the initial flurry when I got annoyed and angry, I managed to get most of them in the habit of only ringing every two weeks or so, and treated it a bit like a game :)

After you have declared BR, do as Maxmycardagain says; the calls will stop very quickly indeed.

  • As per the advice from National Debt Line I only discuss matters with creditors via letter. The people who need to speak to me have my mobile number, creditors only have my land line so I have unplugged it and only plug it back in for using it.

I've had maybe 5 letters, mostly they have all given me a few weeks to respond where as phone calls (from what I read on here) seem to be relentless and at all hours.
