Informing creditors of going bankrupt

Hiya, I am going to the courts next month to declare bankruptcy (am just raising the funds to pay for it so will be going first week of next month when I have it) in the meantime i have stopped paying my creditors, but am being hoarded by calls which I am not answering.
Do I have to inform them that I am going bankrupt or do I leave this to the courts, have tried putting some kind of letter together but just get stuck! Your advice is much needed!

No don't bother telling them, just ignore them, they will find out soon enough. If you do pick up the phone just tell them you are taking advice from the CAB/CCCS/.NDL and someone will be in touch shortly.
When you are BR just pick up the phone and tell them the good news then.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Agree with Tiger, tell em nothing until after you are BR0

No don't whatever you do tell them, i made that mistake and it was a thousand times worse, they have a definate time to crack you then, play sick for now, a good old bout of the flu that is going around.
That will give you the few weeks you need, they will be relentless, they were with me, then once you have the order, sock it to them, as it were, give them the court ref number, the court it was done in and then politely say bye bye, as you do not expect to here from them ever again.:rotfl:44lb off and 13 to go.:j0 -
I strongly advise you to copy your BO and send every creditor 1 copy, it stops 99% of all actions/mail and phone calls dead.
but dont listen to me if you dont want to, but it worked for me...

I can see why it's tempting to let creditors know to try and stop the calls etc.
I was instructed by my OR when they phoned 2-days after my BR to do nothing unless I felt I was being overly harassed and if this was the case to then to inform the OR which creditor was harassing me.
I only use my home phone to dial out. Everybody I know including family has always used my mobile to get me. I don't think I know anyone who hasnt got some kind of free minute's package on their mobiles. I also don't answer private numbers or "08" numbers on my mobile anyway, so therefore all the calls I have been getting just go to voicemail. I also don't mind the letters they send, they just get briefly scanned and filed away.
Being chased by my creditors post BR have made zero difference to me in my life thanks to the above.0 -
Thanks for all the replies going to avoid the calls for now bring on August can't wait to get this over with!0

I got NIL phone calls and in 12 months 1 letter, I think I had a right result, especially for only the cost of 33 2nd class stampsNow we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...0
