Im looking to move out of the property Im currently in and need to give notice that Im leaving in writing.
Is there anything in particular the letter should contain, bearing in mind that I need a good reference from my current landlord..?
Thanks

No standard wording rqd. Make sure you date the letter and give the date you are leaving. Make sure you give the right period of notice: check your contract but usually
a)if it's a fixed term contract (eg 6 months) no notice rqd, though it's polite helpful to write a month before the end
b) if it's a rolling (periodic) contract (eg monthly) then you need to give a month's notice starting from a rent day (eg if you pay rent on 20th of month you cannot give a months notice from 3rd of month.
Apart from this, be friendly, thank the LL for his help/lovely house/etc where you've been happy, and wish him luck finding nice new tenants easily!0 -
