Travel insurance on Explore Trip

I'm planning to go on a Safari trip in South Africa with the travel group. They insist on good travel insurance cover which is fair enough, but their cover would cost £80 which seems excessive to me. Can anyone suggest a good alternative to me please?

This is the information they regarding travel insurance

That is very expensive, most Annual Multi Trip Policies will cover Safaris providing it is a professionally arranged Safari. Check the wordings for each Company.

I would recommend you avoid the Explore policy as it is underwritten by Axa who do not have a very good reputation for travel claims

I've used the Annual STA Travel policy which covers you for virtually any kind of "adventure" trip - £120 for the year
