Are different types of credit treated differently?

in Credit cards
I applied for a Vanquis card in February, I got a mortgage in April, I applied for a loan in June.
Do credit companies look at applications as different types of applications or applications in general? The reason I ask this is because I am thinking about opening a new credit card and don't want to get declined due to too many applications.
Many thanks in advance guys!

Hiya
Credit is assessed differently depending on the product applied for. A mortgage is easier than unsecured debt for obvious reasons. That said, it depends on numerous facts and quite rightly, the card issuer(s).
Have a read here, this will tell you who searches what credit agency so if you know your Experian file is better than your Equifax file, go for a card thats issuer searches experian such as tesco.
In all fairness, upto 6 searches in a 6mth period is widely acceptable so no worries, Read here though for some guidance: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=16787852010 - year of the troll
