Q1: iTunes isn't refreshing until clicked on - Any ideas why?

Options
Evening all,

I don't think it's a graphics card problem, but my iTunes screen just doesn't refresh itself.

To explain, I just started playing an album and had listened to 5 or 6 tracks, yet the screen shows that track one is playing (indicated by the little speaker icon next to the track).

If I then click on the screen however, it refreshes and shows the track currently playing.

It does the same sort of thing when importing tracks from CD. I can start it importing and come back to it a few minutes later and although I know it's imported more than just one track it still only shows the 'importing track animated orange graphic' next to track one. If I then click on the screen, it updates and shows the accurate progress it's made.

Also, on occasion, when I'm playing through a playlist and then come back to the screen after it's changed tracks, all the text appears to be mixed together (that's the only way I can explain it). When I click on the screen, again, it refreshes and everything looks normal.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Screenshot here

P.s. Sometimes, when I open iTunes, it looks like this, until I maximise it or something similar. It's only iTunes that does it.

Your desktop theme looks very fancy (what is it???). Try running a bog-standard desktop theme and see if that makes any difference.

    Have you tried re-installing iTunes?

It's a Windows Vista theme with WindowBlinds. The problem was the same before I had any erm 'fancy' themes. Thing is, I'm putting off a backup job (iTunes) and don't really want to mess with iTunes until I've done it (just in cases I loose a great deal of work!).

I will get the backup done tomorrow me thinks, then try reinstalling.

However, installing v6.0.4 over v6.0.3 didn't seem to rectify the issue, so I'm not sure reinstalling will either.

Anyhoo, I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

    Cheers for your input!

    Well, I'm stumped then!

Have you tried the Apple iPod support and forums? http://www.apple.com/support/

I've found them to be very helpful in the past.
