I'm needing a little help please, i am ditching AOL because of the 80% price increase:mad: and am going to Talk Talk for my phone/Broadband/line rental.
What i need help with is what do i do about my emails, as i have only ever had a email with aol, and obviously i won't be able to access it when i leave them, so what do i do about getting a new one.
What do i do about various things which require updates, which will be sent to my old aol address ( eg Photoshop updates etc).
Can i have a email address with someone other than a ISP provider so that i don't have to go through this all over again (if i move again) ,sometime in the future.
Sorry if this is a silly question but i really have no idea on this
, and i suspect that a lot of people will be thinking of moving from AOL, but are worried of losing their contacts etc..
many thanks...

So long as you inform your contacts of your new e-mail address and check any other online accounts you have for references to your old one before you switch you should be okay.
Now, have you considered Google Mail?0 -

Just a quick thought on this, i wouldnt personally move to talk talk as the price increase may follow you, Carphone Warehouse owns both AOL and TalkTalk and they share the same network infrastructure, so they might bring the increase to talk talk too but you would be stuck in a contract with them0 -
thanks for the help,
i have just set up a googlemail account, dead easy, and it will transfer all my aol emails over for 30 days:beer:.
I have quite limited options where i live for broadband, so really don't have a lot of choice, it was a choice between BT or Talk Talk, and i HATE BT, so the choice was made for me. Paying £32 month all in .Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0 -
Can you subscribe to O2 in your area?
We pay just under a tenner a month for up to 16 GB as long as a mobile is topped up by £10 every 3 months.
O2 also provide a free router which is easily set up, and the service is very reliable.
Good luck0 -

Just another quick one for the OP, I was with AOL a while back and my aol email is still active, as far as i know they dont close down the old email accounts so you could still use it0

Hi
I moved away from AOL in May and still access my AOL account and email as previously. They don't delete access to your email anymore so there is no need to set up a new account or change email address or favourites.
Everything stays the same except that you receive your broadband from another cheaper supplier.
Hope that helps0 -
Don't don't don't don't don't go to talk talk.
Their service is pants, totally unreliable. I switched in Jan this year and within a fortnight cancelled. If you can live with erratic broadband that drops just as you are online banking or booking a flight, and enjoy talking to third world countries on an echo-y line with someone who can't speak English, then talk talk is for you.
However, £21 or whatever it is for landline/broadband/unlimited calls may appear cheap, but £21 for something that doesn't work, is very expensive.
I would think long and hard.
Have a look at https://www.postoffice.co.uk if you want to stay away from the AOL/TalkTalk/Tiscali cartel.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
