New car for Spain requ. / worth buying elsewhere ?

Hi All,
Due to the rising cost of car hire in Spain, and the fact that new cars over there seem a lot more expensive, I am looking at buying a new LHD for use there. Years ago, people used to get them from Belgium or Holland, but because now of the sterling rate against the euro, perhaps not. Has anyone got any tips for the most efficient way to do this ?
Thanks in anticipation.

Can't really offer any suggestions only to say I know what you are going through. My parents have been looking for a car in Spain for a while now. They have just decided to buy a cheapish car here and drive it down. They don't drive it far. Only between their house and the shop/beach so won't bother them having a RHD.This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0

You do realise that if you buy a car outside of Spain for use in Spain, you will have to import it in to Spain and pay the duty on it.
You can only use a non-Spanish car in Spain for 6 months.0
