21st Century ideas ~ 19th Century brain ?

Couple of thoughts ....

Just bought a HDMI cable for my "HD ready TV" then realised that my Virgin box isn't HD at all .... oops lol. :o
Phone call to get a V+HD box should solve this but in the meantime I think I've got a "HD even more ready than it was before TV" so that's gotta count for something ?? ;)

Once I get the V+ sorted out do I only need to connect with the HDMI cable or do I leave the scart attached ?

Secondly, I've recently installed a NAS which allows me to access all of my docs from any PC on the network as well as accessing my saved music. Is there a simple way, as the music library is in effect networked, to play this music on my main stereo even though it is in a different room ? I don't want to have to use an ipod or similar if there's something that can simply stream the music to my stereo. (I guess it would need some sort of screen to see what's playing or could it be interlinked with the TV for that ?)

you should just need to plug the hdmi cable into the virgin box and then the tv, no more need for the scart. as for the music you can actually buy network music players or if your any good with technical things you can look up the xbox media centre

Has anyone out there got any thoughts on the music situation ?
I've since found out that the "hi fi" in the living room has a USB connection if this helps ?

edit: sorry Jay, meant to say "anyone else". appreciate your input.

If you've got an old xbox or the like kicking around, you can use that to stream music and films.

That only does audio, and it's very expensive for that. Does it need to be wireless, or would it be possible to go wired.

Actually, this looks like a pretty good go at what you might need.
