Yep id say go for it too. You have to eat stuff out of that kitchen so you want to know its clean.
Id say do it and when they come back and they ask why, say you were bored and fancy a spring clean in practise for having your own home.
Id never let my kitchen get that bad (im so anal about the kitchen), but would be delighted if someone wanted to tidy it up somtimes!!!Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110 -
You could try neat washing up liquid on the icky greasy walls - it shouldn't be too noticable if you do that. You could clean up one of the pans really well and when they get back say you burned something in it and had to really blitz it to clean it off. Say it was a hell of a job, but you may tackle the other other pans one by one sometime in the future so they all match....
You could try a strong solution of biological washing powder on the hob overnight...
Failing that you could clean the kitchen - repaint and buy some new pans as a welcome back surprise!
Good luck!

I would do it. You could be talking about my inlaws kitchen!! I have cleaned it to the best of my ability a few times and MIL wasn't offended, she's always been happy to let me tackle her housework when she's away - only prob is it ends up back to square one as I don't live there!!0

Did you end up cleaning the kitchen Juno or did you just leave it?
And did the burnt bits come off...I did a search for burnt and this thread came up...my oven is stinking with food that overspilled. Looking for quick cleaner...think I'll try the biological powder thing, don't have any cola.

I would love to know too...
I had a major overspill of garlic butter in the oven (hm garlic bread) so i put a newspaper int he bottom for a couple of hours to soak most of it up.
I just squirt on plenty of oven cleaner and shut the oven, and leave for as long as poss. not just the 30 mins they usually say.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

To clean an oven or hob you are best off leaving bio-washing powder mixed into a paste on it....itll wipe off and leave a sparkling surface! However, my own mum came over here and cleaned my whole house and I was SPEWING! Not happy, it made me feel like I wasn't good enough and my standards didn't reacj hers etc and it really sucked... So I'd be careful!Three years, six months, three weeks, 13 hours, 48 minutes and 30 seconds. 26011 cigarettes not smoked, saving $11,704.80. Life saved: 12 weeks, 6 days, 7 hours, 35 minutes.0
