I don't think people are being hostile, given the nature of the forum - money saving, I think people are just saying to be careful.
These types of comps can quickly become very addictive, just like gambling in a way, I know I'm probably a worrying old woman but I remember the nutrigrain bar competition, I saw and read of people buying hundreds and hundreds of them, same type of thing as pepsi but the prize was £1000. People weren't only left empty handed but out of pocket big time.
I know that a person has the right to do just as they please with their money or pepsi or whatever but I do wonder at what point it stops being about winning and just ends up being about the thrill of the chase.
I know some will spend what they can afford and only that but some people won't.
As I say none of my business in the slightest but as a member pointed out, there is a huge flaw in cookstar's plan. What if he/she doesn't win that first phone and if he/she does and spends the profits of selling it on more pepsi what's to say they'll win again. If a person can afford to do this then okay but i think you'll find everyone is erring on the side of caution and just making sure they know what they're doing.

Surely discerning whether it is 'Sensible' to buy 480 cans of Pepsi that you don't want is all relative to how much you win? I've bought over 480 cans of Pepsi. I've won 6 phones. I would say that was a pretty good investment. Being a 'Responsible Adult' surely doesn't include playground-style bullying?

The point of the competition board is that it is NOT gambling. If you want to gamble with your money then try the Matched Bets board.

The only way we get to keep purchase-necessary competitions is if you are buying stuff you would normally but which has a competition as an extra added bonus.

It's all there in the "Free To Enter Competitions" sticky.

Nobody could say that I am anything other than helpful - and god knows I have asked stupid questions myself - but if you care to read the entire thread castmana1, you will see that we have all responded helpfully and politely and been completely ignored

You could buy 1000 cans and not win a thing - it is irresponsible to encourage people to risk that amount of outlay and is against the rules of the forum.
