With the greatest respect to both you and Kelloggs but she has not worked for the CSA for along time. Things do change and I for one have seen many default payments and IPP supported by bank statements in the manner I suggested work well. I dont agree with advising someone not to make regular payments but instead keep the monies to one side,(for the reasons above) but then again I do understand why someone would say that.0 -
I have been there for a couple of weeks per year since I went on career break, and the same old problems are occuring.0

Then you will be able to confirm my points about default payments and IPP's. you not teaching now?kelloggs36 wrote: »I have been there for a couple of weeks per year since I went on career break, and the same old problems are occuring.0 -
Sorry if I have not got my point across let me try again A simple phone call to the CSA requesting a Default payment allows a individual to make a direct payment to the CSA pending an assessment. Thats why the legislation exists. I fully understand your point and yes it is a uphill struggle if the NRP makes direct payments to the PWC in respect of child support payments and they say they have not recieved any monies, but from my experiance if the NRP can show on a bank statement and like I said in my previous post it is anotated IPP there is action open to them to either recover the monies or get the CSA to accept the payments.
It may do it may not !
The fact is i wouldn't trust them to do that and then not try collecting for the same period as arrears. The best policy when dealing with the agency is to keep it as simple as possible.
Besides which the default payment amount may be well above what the assessment will be. In which case the NRP may find themselves in financial trouble, and all because the agency cannot complete an assessment in reasonable time.0 -

I will not show her my payslips - ever. We divorced because of her adultery and I believe my word is my bond. You may think that it is stubbornness but I think it is more than that.
When we were married she had the right to see my payslips. I now have a far more loyal and trustworthy wife. I do not believe my ex-wife has any right to see my wages. If my kids ever want to see that I paid what was right, they can take my payslips home for scrutiny.
Essentially, I will offer my payslips to the CSA (or my kids when they reach 18) but not my ex-wife.

Absolutely the right thing to do - it is none of her business, I most certainly would not show my ex husband my pay slip - and he never paid a penny towards the kids even when we on the verge of repossession.iluvfreebies wrote: »if you are paying 15% already call her bluff and make an application to pay maintenance through the agency yourself. You should be able to do this over the phone with the agency - the case would be effective from the date you apply so make sure to leave money aside if you arent paying her directly - you can make voluntary payments through the agency while you are waiting for payments to be sorted out by debit card.
This seems good advice, and if you have any spare after the assessment give it direct to your children in hatever format you choose.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
Thank you all once again.
I spoke to her today and she has contacted the CSA so I await their call. Sad thing is, I'd have stretched the payment to 20% (of my pay) if only she could have negotiated a little.
Standing order cancelled. I'll advise progress in due course.

I had this very issue about 6 years back, we had a private arrangement and without my knowlegde she went to CSA, who back date to the date of the claim so it took 3 months before I was informed and CSA treated the private payment as a gift and I ended up paying twice!0

I received the form on Monday and the letter asks that it is returned by Friday. It may be a bit late while I gather the information and complete the form.
A negotiated deal could have proven beneficial to my ex wife as I could have offered to backdate it or pay a lump sum in advance. It would also have been much quicker than using the CSA.
I intend to complete the form (where appropriate) at the weekend and will post it first thing Monday by recorded delivery. There are a number of questions that I will not/cannot answer and I do not see how they are relevant e.g., one question asks if my partner (I hate that term - my wife is my wife) is on certain benefits- IMHO this is none of their business and if they really want to know then they should ask her.
Onwards and upwards.

NRP applied for an assessmet, after 2 months stopped all money and it took 6 months for them to do an assessment and 7 months for me to receive my first payment. I managed, thanks to fairly hefty overdraft and the goodness of my parents. He put no money aside for his son, and is allowed to pay back his arrears at a rediculous amount.
The CSA took his word that he had paid two maintenance payments 'as they had seen his bank statements', these statments did not state what the money was for but only showed that money was paid to my account. Now I didn't dispute this, but what I am getting at is that they (in my case anyway) did not ask if I had received maintenance or if I had proof that the payments had been made, they didn't even ask if it was paid in arrears or in advance! However in my partners case they have taken his ex's word as gospel, he can show payment, but she disputed amounts, she stated payments were in arrears and they believed her...I think its the luck of the draw who assesses your claim.

How long does the assessment take?
I sent the form back last Saturday but haven't heard from them since. Surely they should be able to work out 15% pretty quickly even without the multi-million pound computer system.
