Hi,
After much deliberation i've decided to buy an apple imac 17" for home, and to use for the small business i'm setting up from home. Seems to be £929 everywhere, or £945 at pc world with a printer, scanner, copier included. Can anyone find me a better price?

Are you in education or anyone in your family in education at further/higher level as you could ask them to purchase from Apple store & receive the educational discount that Apple offer. Check their website for details.

Thanks guys
Gonna apply for the egg money card, and also am still officially a student so mac will cost £873, with additional 5% discount so overall will cost me around £830, saving of £100! As for the printer deal from pc world, was planning on buying a better printer, but paying the £15 so that I could sell their one on ebay, they sell it for £80, was hoping to sell mine new and unwrapped for £40, making £25, so direct from apple on education and egg deal is definately a better deal, unless anyone else knows any better deal?!

£765.00 ex vat, £898.88 INC VAT
Assuming they offer an education discount this MIGHT work out cheaper.

i have'nt understood why do retailers quote EX VAT price when they sell items on INC VAT only.
Sorry for this dumb question, i have come to Uk recently and i m a foreign student.0 -
have you checked apple refurbished store? imac 17" 80gb under £600. I have bought several refurbished units from apple with no problems at all. Its not intel but i wouldnt recommend getting intel yet as software has compatibility problems. Especially adobe creative suite.
You can still get 5% cash back with egg money too. I bought 2 ibooks last week they were listed as 40gb each but when I got them i found one has 100gb hard drive and the other has 60gb. :j

I am going to be buying a new mac at the end of the month and I use photoshop, what sort of mac would you recommend?Murphy's No More Pies Member No. 28 on hold0 -

WRT a recommendation for a new mac - it really depends, do you have a decently quick G4 dual-processor powermac now? If so, and you really need a new mac then get the fastest dual G5 you can. It's still a perfectly good machine and it'll be years before software goes intel-only. If you don't need a new mac right now I'd recommend staying with what you've got and only getting a new intel powermac once they're at least in Rev B (Rev A will have problems, always do). Remember the powermacs aren't even intelified yet - I don't expect them to be until the end of the year when the next intel chip is available.
I'm *assuming* you're using a powermac - could be wrong!
