Capital One - Void Transaction

in Credit cards
Calling at a country pub on the way home for a "pie and a pint" we elected to pay by credit card, some £30. The machine accepted our pin but produced a "Transaction void" slip. This occured twice.
We then paid by cash.
On checking my account I find that despite being having 2 void receipts this ammount has been charge to my account twice. (£60)
I have spoken to Capital One call centre (in India) and have been adivsed "oh there is no problem go back to the vendor"
I have spoken to the pub and they say "oh there is no problem, we dont have your money".
But there is a problem, I have paid £90 for a £30 bill and neither party is interested in correcting this error.
Any advice on how I can get my money back?

Capital One are at fault, as you've effectively disputed the transaction, make sure the call centre log it as a dispute else may a formal complaint

I had a similar problem with my LloydsTSB debit card in an ATM at a Gala Bingo Hall. Tried it twice for some money and each time it came back with Void Transaction (or similar remark).
There was a code on the slip from the machine and I looked it up via Google and the code means "Machine not authorised for this type of transaction".
Next day, card worked in an ATM in the high street and has worked ever since. However, I have read somewhere that LloydsTSB will not allow you to use their cards in gambling establishments and, although I have never taken it up with them directly, I can only assume that Gala Bingo Halls are classed (correctly!) as such.
Anyway, back to the OP's problem, when I looked at my account, the two transactions had been charged to the account but had also been immediately credited back. Maybe, the OP's account has since been automatically credited back later on a subsequent update - worth checking if you haven't.0 -
Happened to me once in Morrisons. The void transaction fell off after 7 days.0

Which part of your on line statement is this on, transactions or pending transactions. If on pending it will drop off in a few days.0

I have had this many times. The transaction will go into "Pending" but should not become a full completed transaction. After about a week it should simply disappear and your available credit figure should re-adjust.0
