Repossession offer...how to find out what was offered?

I went to see a repo 30th June that I was interested in, the ea said that a offer had been accepted last week. I said why didn't the website say "under offer" she didn't answer. I asked if it was going in the local paper and which one. She said it could be any number of them, I then said what was the offer then seeing as it would be public knowledge, she said she wasn't allowed to say - maddening! I phoned the office and they said the same.
If I don't see the offer in the paper I wont know what was offered, why can't they just say what it is:confused:

I could be making a offer several thousand over the accepted offer.
Is there anyway of finding out what the accepted offer is, if I don't manage to get whichever paper its published in?

Thanks

ok... this is probably stating the bleedin obvious but you obviosuly have an offer in mind so why dont you just make it?? Or make your offer £5k less than the one you wanted to make just to cover the possiblity its too high. the worst that will happen is that they will say no... chances are though if an offer has been accepted and the buyer is ready to proceed and may be a cash buyer and have had surveys done, etc so shown they are commited they may want an offer a few grand higher than the one that is in to make it worth their while taking a risk on a new buyer...

.. and obviously the longer you wait for the newspaper or whatever the further along the process the buyer is going to be so the more likely it is that they will stick with them for the sake of a couple of grand if they want a quick sale...

a bird in the hand and all that....

If it's anything like the repos we deal with, 99% of them must be advertised in the paper asap so I'm surprised that they don't know when it's going to be published. More likely scenario is they just don't want to tell you unfortunately, I agree with the posters above, if you want to make an offer just make it!
Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.
