This year will be our 6th time going back to Las Vegas, we absolutely love it there. We only drove to the grand canyon so can't give you advice on that but my suggestions for other things to do are:

Sit in Al Fontana bar in the Bellagio and watch the fountains away from the masses
Take a cheap $50 helicopter ride over the strip
Go and watch a cirque de soleil show ('o' is my favourite)
Listen to the dueling piano's in New york New york (although you need to get there early if you want a seat)
Watch the light show at Freemont Street
Make sure you sign up for some kind of players club card if you are going to gamble so you earn cashback and comp points.

So much other stuff to do but obviously can't name it all. I'm sure there will be many different ideas from people on here. Hope you enjoy your time there.

Hiya Cardiffkjk we did a Helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon and we went with
https://www.papillon.com . We went on their Champagne Breakfast trip... it was excellent.

We were picked up by limo early morning taken to LV airstrip and boarded helicopter for flight over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.. we landed at the top of the Canyon to refuel and then down 4000 ft to the bottom of the canyon , landed at the edge of the Colorado river and had breakfast .. then flew back a different way and ended with a flight down the Strip... can't recommend them highly enough it lasted around 2 hrs or so and yes it was expensive around $170 but an experience of a lifetime........ :T :T :T

Make sure you take an early morning trip and also make sure it lands and you get breakfast. You won't realise how big it is until your stood there. They helicopters come back along the strip so that'll save you the $50 unless you want to go at night.

We spent our Silver Wedding in Vegas a few years ago and it was brillient. Do some searches on the web quoting Las Vegas Freebies and Free Shows Las Vegas, it is amazing the amount of things/shows you can see for free and the times of them. The free shows in the Rio Hotel are very good and you could even get a free bus from Harrahs(on the strip) to the Rio Hotel and also to Freemont Street (just don't forget to tip the driver). Some of the shows involved buying a drink but still you were seeing a good show for the price of a drink.
We never visited the Grand Canyon, we visited Red Rock Canyon and Mount Charlston instead, which was a lovely day out. We also visited Hoover Dam which I personally found disappointing however Lead Mead was very nice. We visited Laughlin on the Colorado River, again this was a free day out with lunch thrown in, given to us by our tour operator. Laughlin had a good retail outlets shopping centre together with hotels and casinos. It also had a very good American War Museum.
By planning our trip before we went and obtaining vouchers off different websites on the internet I reckon we saved hundreds of pounds (I'd seen a documentary before we went on American Couponairs). The Americans were also very friendly.
We loved Vegas and I can't wait to return, the weather was also a perfect 80 degrees for the two weeks we were there.

Don't take a plane trip over it, its rubbish. Go by helicopter much much better.

I went last september, its fantastic and well worth the cost of the trip.

we went on a VIP champagne picnic in the canyon with Sundance Pick up at the hotel and drop you off in a Limo and no sharing they send 1 per party we had 1 for the 2 of us. I am sure their are cheaper options but We both really enjoyed it.

You can take 12 hours drive on a coach or a 4 hour trip on a helecopter and spend time in the canyon there is a cost diference but the time in the bus can be spent doing other things as there is so much to do in vegas.

I know most of the time you should buy tickets in advanced but lots of the hotels will give tickets away or 50% off, but I expect that if you want the really top shows like celine dion (if you see her as a top act) then you would be better to buy in advanced.

I want to go back but I can only go again in September but I want to see Penn and Teller and their show isnt on when I can go.

    Its a great place

We get airline staff discount tickets so I can't be much use i'm afraid.

Depending on what you want to do and how much you like the heat influences when you should go. November is too cold to be sitting by a pool (and they are mostly shut at that time of year) if you like that kind of thing, but if you like to do a lot of walking during the day it is quite nice to have sunny days that are not too hot.

September and October are much nicer months to go to Las Vegas in my opinion as you can relax by the pool in the nice warm weather. I imagine it is personal preference though as some people would probably like the roasting 100+ degree heat of the summer. Not me though, far too pale skin!!
