Firefox bookmarks retrieval

Hi, I just reformatted my C: drive, (windows drive), and I have firefox previously installed on drive F:\ reformatting C: has not disturbed any of my files on drives D, E, F ,G, H etc so Firefox is still there and still works and opens up and connects to the internet. The problem is I have lost the bookmarks. Can you tell me are the bookmarks stored in a folder if so which folder and how can I get them back?

Depends on the version, 2 and below, bookmarks.html, 3 onwards, places.sqlite.

But if you can't see them after wiping c, they are probably gone

Even if you install to a separate drive, you still need(ed) to check the profile destination, usually:

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Where all the bookmarks and personal settings are stored...

Yep, you're right, they were stored on C: drive so they got zapped. Firefox has now created new application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles folders

Use the portable version instead, everything is stored under the same firefox directory.
