Hi, ds has just begun to fill in his online form for a student grant, already encountered a few questions he is unsure of what to answer, I'm hoping someone here can help, unfortunately I feel that this will only be the first of many questions-sorry!
1. Form asks if he has any income, well yes he works part-time at weekends but he won't be when he moves to uni so which is the correct answer?
2. Online form doesn't recognise the University codes (Plymouth), he got these from the UCAS Site as requested but as the form rejects them he can't progress.
3. He has applied for a "Progression" course (His words), it's actually the 3rd year he needs to complete his BSC hons which means he has to move away for this final year. The form asks if he will be doing a "add-on" course, is this the same thing?
4.Should he be appling atm as he has not been offered a confirmed place yet or has arranged accommodation?
This is as far as he got before the site crashed, I think this is going to be a long drawn out process!
and on a personal note-
5. Will I need to provide information? Probably so will P60 Or tax credit confirmation be acceptable?
many many thanks for any help with this.

1. Erm it should ask for income twice. One of them is non taxable income, the other is income. Part time job for the second one. I have not known it to make a difference though so I wouldn't worry about it.
2. No idea. The whole system is gay as gay can be.
3. Don't think so.
4. He should have applied before now.... I applied in February and have had my first installment (albeit I did start my year a couple of weeks ago)
5. If he is applying for income assessed (only worth doing if household income is below £60k), then yes. You will need P60s etc. for the tax year 07/08.
If you tell us the course we might be able to help (well not me, someone else...) with 2 and 3.0 -
Thanks lokolo ,I do like your answer for no 2!
Yeah, it will probably ask lots more questions about income but the site keeps going down..we aren't getting very far!
The course is BSC HONS Computer and games development.0 -
Ah almost same as my course.
Well according to uni website:
Course code: G455
Institution Code: P60
If this is the one that doesn't work. try P60 and course code G401. Its the general Computing degree but this can be changed later on. I suspect you have to apply for G401 anyway.
Ok the answer to 3) is no. Basically what the uni do is that they make him do a BSc in Computing for 2 years, then switch his course in final year. Just treat everythin as a BSc in Computing for now
Anymore questions or trying to do more just reply, I am going to bed now (I hate 9-5 jobs urgh), but will reply during my lunchbreak or someone else might before me.0 -
Thanks again I'll make a note of what you've said, and will probably have more questions but tonight again the site crashed so might be a while getting on there!0
