Wireless activesync from iPaq to laptop

Hi, i've got a vaio laptop VGN-B1VP and a HP iPaq (3115 i think), both with inbuilt wireless networking. Does anyone know how i can connect the 2 wirelessly so that I dont have to plug in a cable each time i want to activesyn.
I read somewhere, that I need to enter the ip address of my laptop in to the iPaq, but I'm afraid I dont even know how to find out my laptop ip address. The laptop is conneced to the internet via a Netgear combined router/modem, but this seemed to set itself up pretty much be itself, so I havent got any record of ip addresses.
Thanks,
Steve.
