Could look at a Sega Megadrive along with a Sonic the Hedgehog cartridge.wilson1973 wrote: »who is 6 1/2 he likes sonic and i would like the games to be quite basic
Basic, easy enough to use (no loading apart from inserting the game cartridge) and throughly enjoyable.
No doubt there's a few on ebay, seen one or two at boot sales as well.
EDIT - There are also plenty of games out for the Megadrive which would be quite cheap now (ebay, boot sales etc) so look around0 -

How about this instead? Not only does it accept standard Mega Drive cartridges, it comes preloaded with fifteen games too!0

Hi!
I would suggest an xbox. They can be had for 10 or 15 pounds and my six year old keeps going back to it.
The games I would suggest are Sonic Heros, The Incredibles, Lego Star Wars and Project Gotham Racing 2; I'm sure there are others which are dug out, I'll have a look downstairs if you want.
I hope that helps

I would vote for a GameCube, muchas cheapness from Ebay or can be got from Gamestation for just over a tenner. There are a few Sonic compilations which seem to sell for a couple of quid on Ebay.
Pretty much all but the "rare" games are a few pound and they all work on the Wii if you ever upgraded.
My 6 year old Nephew loves playing on my cube much more than the Wii and PS2 at his house. The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.
