I went out and bought the Belkin Pre N Router for cable after reading some reviews on its performance.
My computer is in my bedroom and I moved my daughter’s computer down stairs while I decorated her bedroom.
When the computer was down stairs it had a really hard time keeping the signal and would disconnect all the time.
When my daughter’s computer was in her own room she would get 80mbs, but when it was down stairs she could just manage about 11mbs before it cut off.
I bought my wife a new computer and she wanted to go on the internet so I looked on the net and found some reviews on the Belkin Pre N router.
I’ve noticed one thing about most reviews on the internet and it’s that I find the same reviews written by the same people on different web sites.
I took the chance on the Belkin Pre N router and I have to say I was totally blown away by the performance of this new router.
I bought the new pre N Router for my computer and I bought the Pre N desktop network card for my wife’s new computer.
My wife gets a signal strength of 97% constantly and 108MBS constantly, the connection hasn’t dropped once and her downloads are 500-600kbs, we are on 4 Meg cable.
That’s a good download rate to say it picking up my connection from her Pre N desktop card.
It uses a new technology and has three decent size Ariel’s, also the power supply is a lot bigger than the old style Belkin Router.
I am really impressed and amazed at the speed and performance of the Pre N Router from Belkin.
Even in Victorian houses with three floors you will still get good signal strength and speed with this new router.
It will make your old router look like an old skoda, time to upgrade to a sports car?
Belkin is the only company that uses the new Pre N technology and soon all Router manufactures will go the same way.
I paid £100 for the Pre N Router and £60 for the Pre N Desktop Network card, the network card has dropped by ten pounds at pc world.
I know it seems a lot of money, but he speed and performance increase you get over your old router is worth the money.
Ps buy the new one and sell your old one

What does Pre N do that's different?
Is it just a Belkin thing?0 -
Pre N is pending official standards sign off. "N" is the latest 803. generation. It's range and signal strength are much more powerful, and Pre N routers will typically have 3 aerials.
Because it's not been totally "officialised" yet, it is risky buying Pre N equipment as it may not be standards compliant when all is settled, however if it works for you then get it. You may however find that in the future, additional "N" equipment won't function correctly (or at all) with your current investments.
So far Belkin and LinkSys seem to be the main players offering Pre N technology.0 -

It's basically a super-g router with MIMO technology. With MIMO you basically don't get such a reduction in performance the further away from the base point you go as it transmits the same stream of data twice to increase signal strength and coverage.
It gets very good reviews though. Has been out a while (last June/July)."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
