Change of Holiday: some advice please

Hi, I am hoping someone can offer some advice please?
My mother is an elderly widow. Since my father died, she and a number of her other widowed friends have enjoyed coach holidays. A few months ago they booked with their usual company to a seaside resort/ holiday “camp”. The brochure advertised the holiday as full board, which was ideal for them as they are all on limited incomes, and this was one of the reasons they chose and booked this particular trip.
A couple of weeks ago they paid the balance.
This week (with less than a month to go before the trip) they have all received a letter saying there was a mistake in the brochure, it is not full board but only half board. They have phoned to query this, but were told they can cancel the holiday and have their money back, but nothing else.
They are all rather timid and don't want to make too much of a fuss, but nevertheless feel that they have not been treated fairly:ie they booked on the basis of what was advertised in the brochure and paid in full in good faith.
I will write a letter to the company on their behalf, but just want to check what their actual rights are in these circumstances. In my simplistic view, I think that the company is in some sort of breach of contact. Should they uphold the arrangement that my mother and her Friends believe they paid for ie full board?
Thanks

They've offered to give a full refund, that's all they legally have to do. I'd imagine it is in their T&C's somewhere as well. I can't see them doing anything else...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
