So where was I?.... Paid £500 off the mortgage this month
so pretty happy with that, currently waiting to see if I shall have a job in a couple of months so not overpaying much for now, all should be clearer in a week or so then I can move forward... onwards and upwards!
On other matters - friend asked me to do a reference for her daughter and I said no - does this make me a mean person? She seems very lazy, disorganised and the fact she's 23 and her mother is asking for her and in a hurry as she needs it NOW??!!! I just said I didn't know her well enough...

I don't think you're allowed to lie on references these days so saying no definately a preferable option.
She hasn't worked for you.
Never mix business and pleasure.
You have to retain your integrity.
So yes, absolutely right decision.

When the future becomes clear, then you can plan. :grouphug:skint_spice wrote: »On other matters - friend asked me to do a reference for her daughter and I said no - does this make me a mean person?

It would have been mean to write a reference saying: "I wouldn't touch her with a bargepole. Even wearing gloves." But just saying you won't do it isn't being mean."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

If you wrote that reference couldn't she sue when barge owners wouldn't employ her.Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

No, however she could ask barge owners for a reference if they clatter her around the head with a pole on the grounds that they *would* touch her with a barge pole..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

It was a character reference but I just don't feel I know her well enough or in a positive enough light - writing on FB "who can give me a lift to work I start in 10 mins?" doesn't strike me as a dependable sort...Mortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

It's not sounding like she has an overcrowding problem inside her skull."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
