My husband is 75 and I am 63 we have used a company called Flexi cover for the past three years for annual travel insurance. We both have pre-existing conditions but find their premiums very good and the service if you have a problem is excellent,we had only been insured with them for 8 hours when we both ended up in hospital in Turkey! We had 3 very helpful phone calls regarding any assistance we might need!a doctor or nurse on the plane taking us back home which we didn't need but was there if needed!IWe also have RAC breakdown cover, extended warranties on electrical goods, credit card cover and annual travel insurance, lots more benefits with Barclays free with Additions plus but that only covers up to 31 days holiday and we like long stays!I think lots of banks do Travel insurance etc with their accounts so check them out!:j

My mum and dad also had travel insurance with flexi cover. They had a car accident in the middle of india and were both seriously injured. Flexi cover refused to allow me and my sister to fly out saying that they would only pay for one person even for 2 separate policies. Frantic flight searching ensued and only 3 days later could we get out there and by then it was too late to save my dad who by that time was brain dead. this is after 'flexi's' representative who was actually 300 miles away from the hospital told us they were fine!!!

Flexi then refused to pay for repatriation via jet and said that they would only pay for my mum to fly home stretchered on a normal flight. (with 10 separate leg fractures, and 5 skull fractures and a heart condition) My dad i was told would have to stay out there till he could be bought home in a coffin, thats an exact wording by the way!

We only got them home after a daily newspaper offered to send out a private jet for the story and we threatened them with this. Flexi are cheap / the life of your family is not. Do not use them....

LTSB tried to sell me one of their premium current account packages a few years ago.

To begin with, I said OK, as the sales pitch sounded reasonable. But, after I'd done the sums, I phoned back and said, "No way". I would have been paying more than I already was for the same things.

'Commission-fee travel money' in particular is laughable as a 'perk'. Every Tom, !!!!!! & Harry advertises 'Commission-fee travel money' and, like LTSB, they then charge you commission on it (built into their exchange rate). But you aren't supposed to realise that....

I used Martin's Insurance section and have been quoted £129 for myself and my wife for one years annual insurance for the UK and All of Europe. I have High Blood pressure and that was declared and is shown on the insurance document. For interest, the company is www.CLICK4QUOTE.COM. Well worth getting a quote.:money: Incidently I am 67 and my wife 58.

I had a look at this site, and the maximum age now appears to be 64 for annual cover.

I am actually looking for a policy which will cover us for up to 60 days, 1 aged 62 and one aged 67.

Try Goldfish, I pay £6.50/month anual travel insurance for my wife and I.

Thanks Missile, but they have a maximum of 45 days. We look like having to reduce the length of our stays abroad
